Support FAQ

Caliban Mailer support ended April 1, 2011. The program will remain available, but without maintenance or enhancements, and no one will be available to answer questions.
If you are encountering difficulties using Caliban Mailer, this is the place to look for assistance. We always recommend that you use the latest version of Caliban Mailer, currently 2.30.4. Click here for the revision history.

First check the online help provided with Caliban Mailer. Clicking the "Help" button will show you the information relevant to the particular dialog you are using. While not all dialog boxes have a Help button, most have a small question mark button which will give you a description of the items in the dialog box. The online help also includes some "how-to" information.

Next, consult our list of Frequently Asked Questions. They might be able to provide a quick and easy solution to your problem. If you are using Windows 95 or 98, please consult this page.

If you need additional assistance, you may send your technical support questions via email to support@caliban.com. When sending in a bug report or question, please include as much detail as possible. Be sure to include the following information:
  • Include the version of the operating system (WinXP, Vista Home, etc.), and the version of Caliban Mailer. It will help us if you include in your message the system file information, which is available via Options tab / About / System Files. Use the "Copy All" button to copy the information to the clipboard, and then paste into your email message.
  • If there is a problem on the receiving end, please include the name (i.e. Thunderbird, Microsoft Outlook, etc.) and version of the recipient’s email client software.
  • Include a troubleshooting log file. Creation of this log file is optional, and can be turned on in the Logging section in the Options tab.
  • Indicate if the problem reproducible, intermittent, or a one-time occurrence. If reproducible, include the steps to duplicate the problem.
  • If a dialog box with an error message appears, include the complete text of the message. If the message shows a number, be sure include the number in your report.
  • Remember to include your email address!

Email is the preferred means of contacting Caliban Computing. We do not provide telephone support to users who have not registered.

Caliban Mailer was designed to be easy to use, but some of the concepts may be unclear at first. Suggestions for change or enhancements will be graciously accepted and considered for inclusion in future versions.
